Seattle Girls Trip
March 20-23
Seattle, WA. June's home! Wow, what a beautiful part of the country that I mine eyes have never seen. Towering pine trees, snow topped mountains (volcanos), beautiful waterfronts in every direction, waterfalls, and a few Starbucks locations here and there (and EVERYWHERE). I can't begin to tell you how much fun I had with my girlfriends, and the opportunity to escape the sometimes monotony of homemaking. June, Amy and I became friends in Pittsburgh, however, we have all since moved away. They have come to visit me in San Antonio annually for a girls weekend, but this year I was ready for a change of scenery. And I couldn't have asked for a better hostess! June, you're just awesome! Thanks for chauffeuring Amy and me all around Seattle to see the sights, all 700 miles! We didn't stop moving, really. What a great time we had reconnecting, loving, remembering, and recharging. And I don't remember ever laughing so hard either... good times! Amy and I found humor in feeling quite inadequate, physically, compared to Iron Woman, June. Oh, the laughter began when we hiked (that would be 'climbed' to Amy and me) Mt. Peak and feeling the need to pass out. Or hearing Amy repeatedly complain that her hands were cold, never mind that she was wearing the warmest gloves of the three of us, that were made to withstand subzero temperatures. It was 38º. So, our hike to the top was only a mere 1000 feet elevation, but when we reached the top, we chanted the theme song from Rocky and pumped our fists in the air. I know we embarrassed poor June (who ran 7 marathons last year, and climbed Mt. Rainier). We laughed hard at June for making us try her TEN DOLLAR hoity toity cocktail that she ordered but refused to drink, other than a sip. The laughter never stopped. We overate trying to get our $7's worth of "free" samples at the Vegfest, then left the place wishing we had $7's worth of GasX. Ugh! And jamming OUT LOUD to Whitesnake's Here I Go Again, while trying to keep the car between the lines, and feeling 20 years younger. Euphoric!! I suppose it wouldn't be fair if I didn't mention that I missed my flight home because I thought it was leaving an hour later than it did. What a rush to get out the door! I've never seen Amy move so fast. I'm sorry Amy that you had to do your make-up in the car, deodorant too! Lucky me, I caught a later flight.

Perhaps our giddiness came from too much fresh air, or too much caffeine, after all, we did get coffee twice a day, just because it's Seattle. It comes down to just being in the company of great friends, with no stresses, no schedules to follow, and nothing but fun! And Amy, we're so glad to have been able to celebrate your engagement, and tease you about missing your fiance'. We look forward to your wedding celebration in July. Oh, you want us to be on our best behavior? I make no promises!!

Pike's Place Market Center

The very first Starbucks, located at Pike's Place

The yummiest grilled cheese sandwich ever from Beechers... this could rival some of Wisconsin's cheese. Shhhhhh!

The Vegfest, and a booth from our church

Booth attendants at Vegfest, promoting their new movie, among other things!!

One of Amy's MANY calls to fiance' Dennis! Poor thing endured our harassment with a smile!

"I never eat french fries". She couldn't keep her paws off of them!!

Amy ate lettuce for dinner. The girl's gotta fit into her wedding gown in a matter of months.

Oh, this? The silent laugh! You know, the one where you can't breath, or stop the laugh. My dear friends have a way of reaching the depths of my core!

No key? No problem. Seattle style! (nice butt)

June's friend Jenni and baby Allison

I can swim. Let's go over!

Beloved!
